While the Da Vinci is no longer such a hot topic of discussion, the issues that it brings up about the person of Jesus still remain relevant in our culture. While many Christians have avoided these issues out of fear, the heart of Grassroots Church is to examine all truth claims about Jesus so that we can embrace what is true and to reject what is not. To understand our culture and to discern the truth about the authentic Christ, all followers of Jesus should wrestle with the questions raised by the Da Vinci Code. Questions like:
Was Jesus married to Mary Magdalene and did they have any children?
Did Jesus ever claim to be God or was that just an invention of the Church?
What about the “Lost Gospels” and why were they not included in the Bible?
Was the idea of the sacred feminine edited out of the Bible?
What was the secret discovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls?
There have been many Christian responses to Dan Brown’s book that have offered compelling answers to these claims but sadly while his book is very entertaining and engaging, the responses have tended to be rather academic and technical.
So for those who sincerely do wonder about the questions brought up in the Da Vinci Code but who do not have the time or the patience to read through one of the technical responses to it, I have gathered the best (and most engaging) online resources on the topic:
If you enjoy reading, Dr. Darrell Bock has written a great short article entitled Christian Analysis of Da Vinci Code: What Dan Brown Did Not Tell You – Three Major Errors Plus a Few More

The controversy surrounding the Da Vinci Code is still unprecedented, with a myriad of counter attacks still being waged against Dan Brown for a few misstated facts in his novel. Just because the existence of the Priory of Sion came under question, it doesn

Ariadne,
Thank you for taking the time to check out our blog site. I have spent some time looking at your site and I found it very interesting. I have a passion for truth and I am deeply against the suppression of it in any area of life whether it be religion, spirituality, history, government, or whatever.
I hear you making two types of claims, one experiential and the other historical. Your experiential one is that in your crystal ball you have seen that Jesus was married to Mary. That is experience of yours cannot be proven or disproved and neither can your experience prove or disprove whether or not the historical person of Jesus from Nazareth was actually married the the historical person of Mary from Magdala. For this reason, I will not attempt to argue against your experience, but I also do not see it as valid evidence into the question of the marital status of Jesus of Nazareth.
Your other claim is not experiential, it is historical. You are claiming that Jesus of Nazareth was actually married to Mary of Magdala. This is either true or false and what we have to work with to answer this question is the historical manuscript evidence that we today.
I am curious, have you read the article that I posted about The Da Vinci Code? I find Dr. Bock’s article very compelling on this issue even though it is only a short introduction to the issues involved.
If not yet read the article, below is an excerpt about the supposed marriage of Jesus:
“Problem 1: Was Jesus Married? Basic to the story line is the claim that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene and that many in the church knew (as did people like Leonardo Da Vinci later on in history). The evidence for this claim comes from two extra biblical gospels, the Gospel of Mary Magdalene 17:10
